Fill In the Blank: Bartending

In response to The Daily Post’s writing prompt: “Fill In the Blank.”

Three people walk into a bar…

They never come out.

…….

……

……

They own the bar,

they live upstairs,

and they walked in after shutting down for the day.

Mix Tape: Instrumental

In response to The Daily Post’s writing prompt: “Mix Tape.”

The Man says he wants a mix tape,

A mix tape of my life, my future.

I guess I’ll go with instrumental,

To which I can rap out the lyrics of my life.

The Zone: Mind it

In response to The Daily Post’s writing prompt: “The Zone.”

Get lost!

Get lost as in immerse yourself, feel yourself,

enter the zone,

or as the new age gurus term it,

Practise mindfulness!

That’s the mantra.

Don’t do things in auto mode.

Just think about everything you do.

Right from tying your shoelaces to pushing the toilet seat up (or down).

Now, that’ll make your day.

Whew! Sounds exhausting!

Worldly Encounters: A song, a movie and a book

In response to The Daily Post’s writing prompt: “Worldly Encounters.”

The friendly extraterrestrial intoned in a somnolent voice,

“What book, song or movie would you recommend so that I can learn to be human from humans? Is it ‘Romeo and Juliet’?

Macbeth? or even The Lion King?

I pondered a while,

then said,

“if it’s a movie, you ought to catch, ‘The Gods Must Be Crazy’,

If it’s a song, then perhaps two will do,

‘Money, money, money’ and ‘We are the World’,

and if it’s a book you want, you can’t go wrong reading the all-time bestseller, ‘The Bible’.

To Sleep, Perchance to Dream: No REM

In response to The Daily Post’s writing prompt: “To Sleep, Perchance to Dream.”

I have no dreams,

It’s a dreamless sleep,

The sleep with no REM,

The slumber that fits the first cycle,

The rest we term deep sleep,

To dream, perchance to sleep.

Singular Sensation: Reading and writing

In response to The Daily Post’s writing prompt: “Singular Sensation.”

I have no illusions about the number of readers of this blog.

Statistics , in this instance, certainly don’t lie.

But if you’re a reader,

I just hope you peruse carefully,

And capture not just the essence

But ,more importantly, the motivation(s) behind the writing!

Most writers write so that they are understood.

The best write so that their readers are understood!
