A cracked bookcase,

With loads of unread volumes.

Shelves that can barely bear the weight

Of heavy tomes.

A song book with lyrics to popular numbers.

“Pick one,” I say,

“And we’ll sing along.

It’s the time to be merry,

chirpy and bright.

Let’s sing a tuneful carol.

And welcome the season with a melody.”
