Believe it or not?

Two emails,  sent by an ex-employee to the HR manager of a not-to-be named firm claiming harassment. The e-mails were a follow-up to an initial complaint made directly to the CEO of the company. Yes, the addresses were listed on the company website, all in the name of transparency and accessibility. So much for that!

This was, of course, after going through the normal channels to complain about the working environment. The response, unfortunately, was: “Why isn’t anyone else complaining about the same? Why don’t you record the offending sounds?”

Finally, the employee decided to use his appraisal to raise another protest by refusing to accept the grading given.

And despite bringing the above to the managers’ attention once more, the request fell on deaf ears.

“Why isn’t anyone else complaining?” was the standard response.

In the exit interview with HR, the employee lost his cool and believe it or not merely raised his voice to the (probably junior most) HR executive.

For that, the employee was escorted out by security.

The following emails were met with a reply that an enquiry had been conducted and nothing of note was discovered. How farcical!

Believe it or not!

______________________________________________________________________________-

1> Hounding of the aforesaid employee, from door to work, by their friends and relatives and themselves.
2> A continuous disturbing sound directed in the direction of the aforesaid employee.
3> A continuous hissing sound directed at the employee whenever the employee entered the rest-rooms to relieve himself.
4> Continual disregard of the employee’s directions by the employees reporting to him. – disobedience.
5> Spying and monitoring on the concerned employee’s e-mails, to the extent, that they were being read out aloud by the employees to aggravate the employee.
6> Denial by the immediate supervisor of any such activities on the part of the employees.
7> Denial by the other employees in the team of any such wrong-doing.
8> Instructions given by superiors in the head-office in such a tone, as to cause offense, such as sotto voce and disguising their voices such as to imitate some-one else , causing further aggravation and distress.
9> Continuous impertinence on the part of security staff and women employees.

I have not quite finished yet. Consider this the second part of my previous e-mail:
Besides insubordination, indiscipline and intolerable behavior exhibited on the part of XXXXXXX employees and ex-colleagues, I would like to add the following additional points:
1> Yelling emanating from the rest-rooms and outside the premises.
2> Employees situated in the premises above making threatening sounds.
3> Deliberate disruption of team-meetings.
4> Similar disruption while employees are working on their tasks at their desktops.
5> Unfriendly behavior and cold-shouldering on the part of employees/team-mates especially if the concerned employee refuses to communicate in the local language

If I were a social psychologist, I might call these incidents a social experiment, that went horribly wrong! And I am just being mildly sarcastic. And it would require people with sadistic bends of mind to consent to being participants in this experiment!

Every crime has two parts:

1> actus reus, or an objective part, the criminal act; and (to be clear, there was none here…)

2> mens rea, or a subjective part, the criminal defendant‘s culpable state of mind.

The criminal act (or omission if there is a duty to act) must be voluntary, overt conduct (not merely thoughts) that exactly fits the crime’s definition and causes harmful results.

Perversion of justice never had a better example.

PS: Justice must not only be done; it must be seen to be done. Justice delayed is justice denied.

The company referred to was a large mortgage giant which was swallowed up by one of the largest banks in the US when it went belly up following the 2008 Sub-Prime Crisis.

No responses to this post.. Or is there something sinister at work?

PS: Unlike as some would have you believe, this post is published for informational purposes only.

And if all the heckling encountered was caused by this article, then what could be the reasons for the heckling and havoc caused prior to its publication? Any answers to that?

The mischief mongers are not the kind to have taken the time to have read this blog. They are more verbal or oral than not.And not a single word from this post is ever quoted. That demolishes that canard of an argument and it’s obvious that the delusional miscreants prefer to harp on one thing or the other ,no matter how trivial or inconsequential it is to the matter-at-hand.

And threats of going to the authorities have made no difference to these SOBs either.

It is almost always the cover-up than the event that causes trouble. – Howard Baker
