Saint Francis of Assisi: Patience and humility

“We can never tell how patient or humble a person is when everything is going well with him. But when those who should co-operate with him do the exact opposite, then we can tell. A man has as much patience and humility as he has then, and no more.”
—Saint Francis of Assisi.

“Mary, give me your Heart: so beautiful, so pure, so immaculate; your Heart so full of love and humility that I may be able to receive Jesus in the Bread of Life and love Him as you love Him and serve Him in the distressing guise of the poor.” — Blessed Mother Teresa.

One evening an old Cherokee told his grandson about a battle that was going on inside himself. He said, “My son, it is between two wolves. One is evil: anger, envy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity,guilt,resentment,inferiority,lies, false pride, superiority, and ego. The other is good: joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion, and faith.”

The grandson thought about it for a minute and then asked his grandfather,”Which wolf wins?” The old Cherokee simply replied, “The one I feed.”
